Smarter, simpler, wastewater solutions for new homes.

Building from the ground up? Mata provides reliable, flush-ready solids separation without excavation or buried tanks — giving you flexibility now and in the future.

Mata Solid Waste Interceptor

No pits, no excavators, no pump trucks.
Mata Solid Waste Interceptor, Installed next to a home on a small concrete pad. Mata is a steel blue/grey color.
Starting from scratch should be an opportunity — not a challenge. Traditional septic systems demand excavation, permits, and high upfront costs, while composting or dry systems can compromise comfort and convenience. The Mata system bridges that gap — providing a flush-ready, aboveground solution that’s easy to install, modular by design, and built for Hawai‘i’s terrain.

Install Process

01 | Install Concrete Pad

A 3" concrete pad is installed to provide a stable foundation for your Mata.

02  |  Install Mata on Household Sewer

The Mata receives your 3" wastewater pipe at a minimum height of 16" above grade.

03  |  Install Vent and Gravity Backup

The Mata is vented above your roofline while a gravity flow path to your leachfield is added in the event of a power failure.

04  |  Install Low Pressure Liquid Discharge

The pumped liquid outlet is connected to additional treatment or directly to WaiHome's at-grade leachfield product.

Permitting Process

Mata is a UPC §1009 compliant solids separator, meaning it just needs an over-the-counter plumbing permit and install by a licensed plumber.

However, our work doesn’t stop with Mata. We’re also working with the University of Hawaiʻi and regulators to certify our excavation free Patu liquid treatment unit and Sawa leachfield for permitted installation across Hawai'i.

Mata Maintenance

Mata separates solids from raw sewage and then dehydrates and steralizes them for disposal. The inclusion of two solids bins allows one bin to be filling while the second is drying. Solids are removed and the bins swapped once every 4-12 weeks depending on your usage.
